Is yoga better for your mood than other forms of exercise?
It's no secret to practitioners that yoga improves mood. But according to an article in the Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine, yoga reduces stress and anxiety more effectively
than other forms of exercise such as walking. Participants in the study
were broken into two groups and assigned either a regimen of yoga or an
equivalent amount of walking. Researchers found that the brains of
individuals in the yoga group developed higher levels of aminobutyric
acid, a neurotransmitter associated with mental calm and reduced anxiety.
