I was in serious need of a new mat after using my yellow Lululemon thick mat for about 6 years off and on - it had no cushioning left and was hard to do a lot of poses. I did not realize that most mats are only meant to be used for 6 to 12 months with regular use. I was on the lookout for one that would last a couple years at least and this one is made to last. It even comes with a big carrying strap and some chalk to rub on your hands if you find yourself slipping. I have not had any issues with slipping and find it very grippy already. Love the sturdiness of this mat. Definitely requires some breaking in, as the description states. I've been using it daily for a couple of months and there's still a bit of slip to it. I wanted something for 'at home' practice, and it's perfect for that- I place mine on a rug and it still works great.
it also comes with a chalk block, which is rather handy since the mat has a gloss finish
